Amy ZerbaMy name is Amy Zerba (pronounced ZER-bah). I'm a senior staff editor at The New York Times in Manhattan, where I assign and edit stories about New York. I am a hybrid journalist. My journalism experience is rooted in print yet I have completely embraced the web, mobile journalism and social media.

I follow technology news, am a cheerleader for cool start-ups and find zen in a good cup of hot chai tea. I build websites and teach myself software for fun. I’m fascinated by the beauty of data visualization and all the things our smartphones can do. I have an affinity for video stories that move me emotionally and tell stories about interesting people. I often get lost in thought and have the occasional bruises from running into things to prove it.

I have a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a bachelor’s in English, a master’s in journalism (all from the University of Florida) and a Ph.D. in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. I've taken intensive courses in Front-End Development, JavaScript and User Experience.
